Fly Fishing & Open Water Fishing

Whether you're an avid fly fisherman or enjoy casting, trolling, or ice fishing on Moosehead Lake, Wilsons on Moosehead Lake is the ideal fishing destination for your fishing vacation. The lake and river are the natural breeding grounds for brook trout, lake trout and landlocked salmon, and the dam is the gateway through which thousands of these fish pass.

Step out of your cabin and you're only feet away from the dam where you can easily catch a silver salmon or a hungry squaretail trout in the foam flecked eddies below the dam. Or cast into Moosehead lake above the dam where big hungry salmon lie waiting for food at the gate head. There are several remote ponds for native brook trout, and absolutely amazing small mouth bass fishing nearby! We're glad to assist you in planning your fishing vacation to Moosehead Lake, Maine.

Drift boats are ideal for the new fly fisherman to learn from, and for fishing the holes that can't be reached by wading or from the shore. Drop down the river in a guided drift boat between the wooded banks and cast into riffles and eddies behind big rocks, allowing for perfect drifts in hard to reach pools. You will experience the thrill of white water fishing at its finest. The combination of the freeboard dynamics of a drift boat, and the rowing experience of your expert guide, makes for a safe and pleasurable trip down the river. Full day trips include instruction, all needed equipment (flies, rods, leaders, etc.), and transportation.
