Moosehead Lake Ice Out MoutainsWilsons on Moosehead Lake reporting: So much to report!  There are many exciting things going on here at Wilsons Camps on Moosehead Lake.  We have gone Wi-Fi!!!! We now have a broadband system offering wireless Internet to our guests.

We are in the midst of a later than usual spring with some ice still on the lake.  There is some snow remaining in the woods and in shaded areas; but it is melting fast now.  We have been busy around camp spring cleaning and sprucing things up after the long winter.

Moose and deer have started to appear on the side of the roads on a regular basis.  They are quite scruffy as they are shedding their winter coats.  Lots of small game are also out and about enjoying the beautiful weather!  Ducks and geese have made their appearance as well in the cove! The loons are here and making their beautiful music for all to enjoy!

Attention Fishermen:  Moosehead is now open for fishing as of APRIL 1st! This is a change in the regulations as it usually isn’t open until May 1st!  The East Outlet is now open all year for fly-fishing only! The boys got an early start on drifting the river this year and have already ran it once! Water temperature was only 34 degrees at Indian Pond but the warm weather will be speeding things up quick! As soon as the water temperature hits 40 degrees the smelt will run, and the salmon and brookies will follow them and quickly spread throughout the river! Hatches of Blue-Winged Olives have already been spotted! Walk right out your cottage door over to the River for some of the best fly fishing!  For daily water releases, call 1-800-557-3569 or give us a call at 1-800-817-2549 to make your reservation!

Cabins water ice out may 2014 moosehead lake maineHunters:  We have packages that range from lodging only to complete guided packages with meals.  Plan ahead for this fall for grouse, woodcock, moose and deer hunting.

The Moosehead Lake Region is full of great family activities year round!  Don’t miss the great events- Visit www.mooseheadlake.org for full calendar.  The area offers hiking, biking, boating, fishing, and wildlife viewing and photography.  You can’t beat the Moosehead air and scenery.   A number of our cottages have working fireplaces-perfect for curling up relaxing or reading a good book!  Visit Wilsons on Moosehead Lake-Open Year Round.
