Events and Activities Galore this Weekend!

Make your weekend reservations now at Wilsons Cabins on Moosehead Lake. You can book online 24 hours a day at www.MooseheadME.com or give us a call at 207-695-2549 from 8am-8pm.  There are lots of great events and activities planned that you don’t want to miss! Here’s a great itinerary for you, so you fit it all in!

Friday

Start with breakfast at Auntie M’s and once you’re good and full,head to the B52 crash site on Elephant Mountain, a good hike for all ages!If the hiking isn’t for you, try taking a seaplane ride in the sky with Jack’s Air Service or Curriers Flying Service. Don’t forget to grab a quick lunch at Jamo’s before swinging by Spotted Cat Winery for a taste of some great local blends. Be sure to check out the local shops in Greenville and enjoy a yummy dinner at the Stress Free Moose. Before leaving town you just have to swing by and grab some ice cream at Moose Scoops before calling it a night!

Saturday

Looking for a fun adventure? Register for the Moose River Canoe and Kayak Race where you will paddle Brassua Lake and the Moose River in Rockwood, finishing at the Kineo Docks in Rockwood Village. This race is part of the MaCKRO:Maine Canoe & Kayak Racing Organization Flatwater Points Series. There are special classes for wooden rib & plank canoes in Memory of Fred Reckards, Custom Canoe Builder. If you’re thinking you’re alittle too young to try the whole race, a shorter junior course is available too! The race is an 8 mile course, mostly flat water with one portage at the Brassua Dam. There are also two class II rapids on the Lower Moose River so be ready for those!

 

A registration fee of $15, or $10 if you pre-register is required to participate. Sign in is from 8-10AM at the Rockwood Community Center. Registration includes trophies from Shaw & Tenney and a BBQ at the finish line. The race will start at 11AM at the Brassua Lake boat launch so don’t be late! All proceeds from the race go to benches and improvements to the Kineo docks in Memory of Tunney King Sr!

Don’t canoe or kayak? Not to worry! It’s great fun to watch and enjoy the activities and awards ceremony. There will be kids activities at the finish line from approximately 12-2. The bounce house will be waiting and the moose will be out and about boating and saying hey!

After the canoe and kayak race awards are presented, take a hike up one of the Moosehead Pinnacle Pursuit mountains! Grab the ferry to Mt. Kineo and hike our gem of Moosehead Lake! Enjoy an early dinner from the Kineo Club House or head back to the mainland and check out what’s on the menu at The Birches Resort!

Looking to get a little exercise and have aton of fun? Come join us at Moosehead Lake for our first annual Moose Mainea 5Krun/walk! The first 80 race finishers will receive the Moose Mainea 5K custom medal! Registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.($25.00)

Worked up an appetite? Indulge in a delicious lunch and maybe a drink or two at Flatlanders Pub!

Looking for something a little more laid back? Bring your fishing poles and cast a line in the West Outlet, Mountain View Pond, or even the Greenville Junction Wharf. If you still have it in you, check out the three other mountains in Greenville Junction: Eagle Rock, Big Moose and Little Moose! Don’t forget to stop by Little Wilson Falls for some breathtaking views! Before calling it quits, grab a relaxing dinner at Kelly’s Landing to solidify your Moosehead Lake adventure!
