The brook trout is a freshwater fish in the salmon family. The brook trout has a dark green to brown color, with a distinctive marbled pattern of lighter shades across the sides and back extending to the dorsal fin. A distinctive sprinkling of red dots, surrounded by blue halos, occurs along the sides. The Brook Trout varies in average lengths from 9.8 to 25.6 inches. As well as weight from 0.66 to 6.61 pounds.
